What’s Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Telling About?
Various rumors circulate at Komame Academy about Hanako-san, one of the school’s Seven Mysteries. Hanako-san, who has settled in the third toilet compartment of the girls’ toilet on the third floor of the old school building, grants any wish when summoned by someone.
Yashiro Nene, a freshman in high school whose mind is full of romantic dreams, also enters this haunted toilet. As a result of this incident, he becomes Nene Hanako’s assistant and tries to balance the spiritual and physical worlds together.
In the past, Lerche Studio gave us good anime like ‘Given‘ And ‘Kanata no Astra‘. With the new anime adaptation ‘Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun’, the studio brings us another epic show featuring flawless animation, a compelling story, and some unforgettable cute characters.
Even though it started as a comedy anime which was initially limited to high schools, but as time goes on, the story contains many secrets and some dark events in the storyline.
As the season progresses and there are more and more mysteries underlying the school, it finally turns into an exciting horror anime. So far, the anime has clearly reached its true potential, and I also hope that Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun will be even better in season 2.

Will There Be a Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Season 2?
At the time this article was written, namely on October 11 2022, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun season 2 has not been updated to date. Neither Manga publisher Square Enix nor animation studio Lerche have confirmed a new season. There is also no announcement from Twitter page official in Japan.
I can only speculate at this point. We can look at the popularity and available source material to see if the anime will have a second season or not. There seems to be no problem when it comes to popularity, and the ratings for the series are pretty good by the looks of it.
Everything is great except for the disc sales only. The disc sales of this anime sold for around 1500. Given the disc sales it doesn’t seem to be doing well, but we shouldn’t forget about the exclusive distributor. This anime is also very popular in Japan and is distributed by many exclusive distributors (D Anime Store, Amazon Prime Video, U-Next, Netflix).
The fact that this distributor publishes the anime means it’s an added benefit besides disc sales. This anime is also broadcast globally by Hulu TV. Therefore, the second season looks promising in many ways. According to Myanimelist, the series is ranked 369 in terms of popularity and this rating is good enough to be renewed for a second season.
Manga Status
So what about the manga? As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, the Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun anime is adapted from the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Iro Aida. The manga series, which began publishing in 2014, was published in Japan by Square Enix.
Yen Press published an English translation of the series. The good news is that the manga is still ongoing. Sales of the manga series are doing well, and the cumulative circulation has exceeded 6 million.
The final volume of the manga, which consists of a total of 18 volumes, has not yet been translated into Indonesian, but will be published on August 26, 2022, in Japan. In its first season, it only adapted the first 7 volumes into an anime. So there is enough source material to create a new season. Looks like the manga won’t be a problem.

It seems that there are a lot of viewers waiting for the second season of this anime. The series was also a hit in Japan in both the anime and manga.
Currently, I have no clue about the upcoming season of the Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun anime. But the only post “restart” from the Twitter account of the anime Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun making us feel that there will be a new season that will be released.
This anime itself has gained popularity and also left some unanswered questions in people’s minds. This makes the audience wait for the next season. We’ll just wait for the next season.
