Project Pollinate is coming Nov. 27th

We missed them a few weeks ago, but now Project Pollinate can make it for our Give Back Speaker Series. This series highlights local community organizations, and all the funds raised will go to the organization.

Celebrate the holidays on Dec. 4th

Our annual Holiday Carnival will be December 4th from 1-4pm. You know how we do: music, food trucks, bounce houses, face-painting, and an exotic petting zoo! The proceeds will go to Save Our Shores.

At 3:30pm, our partner organization Sweaty Sheep will be departing from the church on a 5K Eggnog Frolic down West Cliff. Wear your most obnoxious holiday costume, and–if you’re really feeling festive–take the eggnog challenge and chug 4oz of eggnog every mile!

Free community racial bias seminar

Also on December 4th, Faith on Tap will be hosting a racial bias seminar beginning at 8pm. My students and I will be facilitating small group discussions on what does it mean to have implicit bias, how does it affect us, and what can we do about it? Food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.

Faith on Tap is our ecumenical, all-faiths/no faiths discussion group. This event was born out of discussions after the shootings of Black people this summer. We partnered with the NAACP to raise money for action, and now this training is the next step in our efforts to work toward a better Santa Cruz. We are inviting members of law enforcement to drop in, with the hope that they will adopt a similar training for their departments. Please check it out and share the event with your friends.
